Not all current servers support all platforms. Some even work on all OSs but require downloads and installation of a desktop application. This is sometimes unaccesible through firewalls, and its invasive in foreign computers you dont own.

Kaya.gs server will work with a web-client. This means that you can log-in and play and use all features without ever download anything. Will automatically work in all OSs, and all major browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox, Safari). It will work both on Ipad, Iphone and Android mobile devices.
The Online Go World has 2 ratings systems: point based and KGS relative system.
KGS relative system has the disadvantage that accounts get "heavy" and hence making a new account becomes a habit to rank up. We dont like people making many accounts for such a silly problem.
Also in the relative system, players are resilient to play "?" players, as they could bring down their rating.
Point based systems so far have the problem that they require too many games to achieve a proper rank. Also they have the issue that approaching the bottom/top of your rating, changing ranks gets increasingly difficult.

You will be able to achieve a solid rank with a few games that don't pose a threat in the rating of solid ranked players. We will use a point based system based on the principle of 14 victories / 14 losses equal a rank loss. This system used by clubs like the Nihon-kiin is very transparent and predictable. Differences of strength within the same rank is balanced out by komi adjustment. Accounts will never become heavy, and they will always be predictable and it will be easy to achieve your proper rank.
Anyone that desires to perform en activity or create a material is forced to do a website, and then advertise in a Go server, hopefully getting enough attention to get clients or participants. These active and passionate users usually have a very modest techincal collaboration from servers if any at all.

Kaya.gs has an open and modern web-architecture. Someone can build a Go site and interact actively with the server.
This means that someone can build a tournament organizing website and will be able to run those tournaments in Kaya.gs.
GoCommentary videos could potentially be watchable from inside the server.
The list of possibilities is infinite.
There is a bundle of communities out there that work without enough server help, like ASR league, Insei league, GoKifu, Eidogo, Guo Juan. A lot more can be done for them, and that means more people can enjoy all these activities.
It is difficult for someone that has no knowledge of the online Go scene to enter a server. It is also impossible to teach Go online to someone that doesn't know anything about it. It is too uncomfortable to ask someone to download a client, register and more.

It will be possible to register beginner accounts and receive special help and incentives to learn the game of Go. Beginners will have a set of problems and a progressive list of suggestions to learn quicker and get become a full go player.
The server will also have a readily accesible URL's so people can teach other people online without the hassle of registration, accounts or websites that might confuse new players.

We will add Fischer time. No more silly time losses for blitzers, this system will maximize time efficiency and minimize efforts towards time management.

Players will be able to host video conferences or audio lessons as much as they want and without limit.

Lessons and videos made by the community will be accesible from a guide present at the server.
And the list goes on and on!
We have a long road ahead of us and we are ready to walk the walk.
